Meeting of the Social Actors Network on the Completion of the Thematic Conferences

On 26th of October 2015, a meeting of the project's team along with the leadership of the "All Cyprus Trade Unions Forum (ACTUF)" took place in Nicosia. Reunification of Cyprus: economic and social benefits for the Cyprus people

On January 30, 2015 a conference was held by the project’s team in order to present and discuss preliminary results of the Framework Document. The conference was held in Nicosia, at SEK Headquarters and was titled “Reunification of Cyprus: economic and social benefits for the Cyprus people”. Beyond its value for the Framework Document, this event was also a milestone for the engagement of the All Cyprus Trade Union Forum (ACTUF) in the implementation of the project. ACTUF is the basis of the Social Actors Network that was formed in the context of this project.

The conference was opened by the general secretaries of PEO and DEV-IS, Pampis Kyritsis and Hasan Felek respectively, who gave the welcome speeches. During the first session, the two key note speakers made their presentations. The economist and research associate of INEK-PEO, Elias ioakimoglou made the first presentation titled “Α Shared Prosperity Economic Growth Model for Cyprus in the Context of Reunification”. The second presentation came from the political economist, Umut BOZKURT and was titled “Envisaging a political settlement and alternative economic strategies in a crises-ridden Cyprus”. The second session of the conference was chaired by the Deputy General Secretary of SEK, Mr Andreas Matsas and the President of TÜRK-SEN, Mr. Arslan Bıçaklı. This last session included interventions by the participants and discussion.
