Meeting of the Social Actors Network on the Completion of the Thematic Conferences

On 26th of October 2015, a meeting of the project's team along with the leadership of the "All Cyprus Trade Unions Forum (ACTUF)" took place in Nicosia. Thematic Conference (26/06/2015)

“Access to Education and Healthcare in the envisaged Cyprus"

 

 

On 26th of June one more Thematic Conference took place under this project. The conference dealt with the access to education and healthcare in the envisaged unified Cyprus. It was held at OELMEK premises in Nicosia. The conference was opened by Sotiris Papamoiseos from OELMEK, who gave the welcome speech. The conference included two sessions. The first dealt with access to education in the envisaged unified Cyprus and the second one was about access to healthcare. The first session was chaired by Michael Charlistos from OLTEK and Semen Saygun from KTÖS. The key note speakers were Agnes Roman, education policy coordinator of EDUCE and Martin Romer, European director of ETUCE. The first speeker gave a presentation titled "Improving Access to Education" and the second one gave a presentation titled "Education in a Unified Cyprus. Challenges and possibilities". The key note presentations were followed by two key discussants, Constantinos Constantinou from POED and Ahmet Billuroğlu from KTOEÖS. The session was completed by interventions made by participants. The second session was chaired by the former Minister of Labour and Social Insurances, Soteroula Charalampous from PEO and Hasan Yıkıcı from DEV-İŞ. The key note speaker was Ian Pett, Senion Strategy Advisor of the World Health Organisation, who gave a speach on "Access to healthcare in the envisaged unified Cyprus".  The key note speech was followed by two key discussants, Ülfet Kra from KTAMS and the Healthcare Insurance Expert, Thomas Antoniou. The conference was completed with discussion and the adoption of a memorandum, presenting the common understanding and expectations derived from its proceedings.
