Meeting of the Social Actors Network on the Completion of the Thematic Conferences

On 26th of October 2015, a meeting of the project's team along with the leadership of the "All Cyprus Trade Unions Forum (ACTUF)" took place in Nicosia. Thematic Conference (28/05/2015)

“Employment Policies and Employment Protection in the envisaged unified Cyprus”

On 28th of May one more Thematic Conference took place under this project. The conference dealt with employment policies and employment protection in the envisaged unified Cyprus. It was held at ETKA/PEO building in Nicosia. The conference was opened by the General Secretary of DEOK, Diomidis Diomidous, who gave the welcome speech. It included two sessions. The first concerned employment policies and the second one was about employment protection. The two sessions were chaired by Nana Achilleos from PASYDY & Ahmet Varoğlu from KTAMS. The key note speaker was Dr. Apostolos Dedousopoulos, Prof. of Economics at the Panteion University Athens. Dr. Dedousopoulos presented a speech on employment policies in the envisaged united Cyprus. The key note speech was followed by two key discussants: Erkan Birer from TÜRK-SEN and Nikos Grigoriou from PEO. The session was completed by interventions made by participants. The second session concerned employment protection in the envisaged Cyprus. The key note speaker was Nelson Neocleus, Labour Market and Labour Relations Expert, who spoke about labour law and the protection of employment. The key note speech was followed by the speeches of the two key discussants, Koral Aşam from DEV- İŞ and Andreas Matsas from SEK. The session was completed with discussion. The conference resulted to the adoption of a memorandum presenting the common understanding and expectations derived from its proceedings.
